Orono Good Citizen Award

Orono City Council presented past citizen Gary Marquardt with the Orono Good Citizen Award at their regular City Council Meeting last Monday.  

At their October 24th meeting, the City of Orono established a program that recognizes persons who exemplify acts of good citizenship.  The program allows the City to acknowledge those who build community and contribute to improving the quality of life of others.

Council Member Richard F. Crosby II nominated former Orono Citizen Gary Marquardt for Orono's first Good Citizen Award.  The City Council voted unanimously to approve Marquardt's nomination.  We recognize Marquardt for the service he provides through performing "Taps" at Veteran funerals and grave sites throughout the area.
