Carp Tagging and Watershed Demonstration - Today at 2:00 p.m.
Come join Minnehaha Creek Watershed District for an interesting Carp Tagging And Watershed Assessment Demonstration at Nelson Beach on Tuesday, September 17th 2:00 -3:00 pm.

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District is hosting an engagement event to demonstrate the work that the Long Lake Creek Subwatershed Partnership is investing in to improve water quality in the Long Lake Creek Subwatershed. The program includes live demonstrations of carp assessment including electrofishing to collect fish, methods for counting fish population numbers and implanting the fish with small pit tags which will help track their movements in the watershed. The event will also include assessment approach for stormwater and in-lake management and an overview of the Long Lake Subwatershed Partnership. Long Lake Waters Association representatives and Minnehaha Creek Watershed District scientists will be available to answer questions and explain the long term project. The goal is to develop a comprehensive management plan for the entire watershed to improve the water quality and restore ecological balance - come hear all about it!
