The Orono Public Golf Course is located near the north shore of Lake Minnetonka in Orono, Minnesota. It was founded in 1924 and has the distinction of being the first public golf course in Minnesota with grass greens. The picturesque nine-hole course has varying topography, elevated greens, mature trees and a wooded buffer surrounding its perimeter.

Orono Public Golf Course offers an exciting challenge for golfers of all levels and is known for its family friendly atmosphere.

How do I make a Tee Time

As our club house will be closed, please call to make a tee time and pay by credit card at that time. To make a tee time call 952-473-1909

Season pass members 

  • Season Pass members need to call 952-473-1909 for tee times.
  • No walk ups are allowed until further notice.

CLUBHOUSE REMAINS CLOSED - course open for play

Governor’s order is allowing golf to be played with modified COVID-19 restrictions:

  • The CDC requirement for social distancing of at least 6 feet will be enforced throughout the property.
  • We will have a check in station outside. Follow the yellow brick road to pay for tee times, carts and pick up keys.
  • All transactions will be conducted through the pass through window.
  • The only form of acceptable payment will be by credit card. No cash transactions.
  • No public access to clubhouse bathrooms.  Portable toilets located by club house.

ON THE GOLF COURSE:

  • Ball washers and benches have been removed.
  • All cups have been raised so the golf ball will not fall into the hole. A ball striking the elevated cup liner will be considered holed. Please DO NOT REMOVE PIN OR STYROFOAM.
  • Please do not pick up your playing partners clubs or ball during the round.

Carts:

  • Due to our limited staff, we are asking each individual to sanitize their own carts.  We will be supplying the disinfectant spray or feel free to bring your own.  
  • Carts can be shared between individuals in the same household or family.

PRACTICE FACILITIES:

  • Putting green is open but please keep 6 plus feet distancing.

Other Special Parameters in place:

  • Tee times will be spaced apart to 10 minute intervals.
  • The clubhouse will be inaccessible to the public.
  • Cups will be raised so the ball doesn’t fall in. Please DO NOT REMOVE PIN OR STYROFOAM.

winter activities at the golf course

You can have fun all year round at the Orono Golf Course.  Enjoy sledding on Saturdays and Sundays 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m during the winter months. Sledding hours begin the third weekend in December.  Best of all, there is no charge.  Bring your own sled and enjoy!
